Cons. of Human Impacts
One of the big human impacts that people have done is they have used deserts as firing ranges for weapons such as explosives, as in mortars and even worse, nuclear weapons testing... Deserts are often thought as wastelands, that can be terrible for the desert itself. People can't usually see how fragile the desert is. There's also the fact that mining and residential use doesn't help either. People have also dumped tons of waste. My point is that there are a lot of things people are doing to hurt the desert biome. Trenching that is associated with underground pipelines for gas, oil, water, etc. makes soil crusts and rock surfaces unstable.
Pros. of Human Impacts
There aren't many positive human impacts beside the fact that there are few conversations for deserts across the world. This to me is sad because of how many people mistreat and disrespect the desert. However there are people still trying to save the deserts all across the world.
What we can do to help protect the desert
There are many things people can do to to help the desert, here are some ideas...
-Skip the car, go on a nice bike ride, this can help a lot by reducing the pollution in the air from burning fuel and it's a great work out!!!
-Stop dumping!!! If you go on a bike ride or even if you take the car, bring along a grocery bag for trash, then recycle it afterwords.
-Stop weapons testing... there's not much I can do to stop this :(
-Stop trenching. This is were people shove tubes underground for gass or water... People living in the desert should get a well and a gass/propane tank.
-You can even plant a cactus! Cactus' obsorb carbon dioxide in the air and hepl put water into the ground.
-Less mining and oil pumps, these are terrible for the desert (it's simple, digging giant holes into the ground going over 100 feet into the ground and spilling oil everywhere, can't be good for the Earth...
